I was only able to participate in 3 of the Lake District workshop days because I became unwell. The spots we visited were stunning. I learned heaps about using filters. Dion explained photography techniques clearly. We had a wonderful group of participants. The accommodation was so comfortable. Dion made sure that I was given all the care I needed.
Just returned from my first trip with Dion photographing the puffins on Farne Island. My husband and I learned how to catch those clown birds in the air. Even though we had some inclement weather, Dion was able to change our plans and find another place to photograph the puffins. Accommodations were wonderful and everything was close by. I would highly recommend Dion. He has you covered on gear. He let us use his tripods and one of the other participants used one of his cameras after getting frustrated with his own not being able to get the reach for clearer shots. Everyone went home happy.

A few years ago, I bought an entry-level DSLR with a kit lens, hoping to teach myself photography. This was a shared photo experience with my daughter and Dion made the whole experience very enjoyable and memorable. From the sunrise at Happisburgh lighthouse to the seals at Horsey Gap, a truly informative 4 days. Thanks also for the loan of your lenses and Nikon body (my Nikon D5600 decided to misbehave a couple of times!). Will certainly be looking to use Photo Tours again in the future.
Spent a week with Dion on the Puffins, Farne Islands tour. Got some splendid shots of the puffins and the other species of seabirds on the islands. Because of the limited time you have on the island it is very valuable to have someone who knows the best spots and helps you get their flight patterns correct. Dion did all that, and he takes away the hassle of booking the boat trips. Very flexible too in his arrangements. Very comfortable accommodation and a nice group. Great week.

I have just returned from a Scotland Highlands Photo Tour led by Dion Hitchcock. Dion is a very experienced and proficient guide who made the 8-day tour an unforgettable experience! A small group of 5 participants allowed lots of individual attention to those in the group requiring help with their photo equipment. Dion was very generous with his time, offering technical help and providing filters to anyone needing them. I was very impressed by Dion's degree of preparation in scouting the best sights, providing the group with the best photographic experience possible. I visited Waterfall Country in Wales at the beginning of September with UK Photo Tours. The trip was well planned, with plenty of photographic opportunities on all 3 days. We had a very clean and comfortable house in Glynneath as our base. Dion was extremely helpful, came prepared with filters, lens options and even rope and helmets if needed. We had a nice walk on the second day of the trip, where we visited several waterfalls. Dion spent plenty of one-to-one time with each of us. Despite being a keen photographer for over 25 years, I did learn a few things! I had attended 3 one-day trips with UK Photo Tours and had high expectations. I wasn't disappointed!
I had a fantastic day out and got some great images! Dion was very helpful; he gave us advice, answered our questions, and even provided spare equipment for us to use — I forgot my spare battery, so that was perfect.

Dion is a highly competent and helpful photography adviser who can accommodate all sorts of different needs, from the knowledgeable amateur to the beginner. He certainly was patient with me and lent me his equipment (as I was a bit "camera disabled") which helped me get great shots.
I had two trips to the Farne Islands with Dion and I thoroughly enjoyed both. I decided to go on a second trip with Dion because I wanted to improve my photography while I was still fit and able, at 74 years young I may not be able to be so mobile in the near future. I also felt there would be different photography opportunities on the later trip, the chicks would be hatching and fledging, not just puffins but kittiwakes, guillemots and razorbills. Of course, Dion is a good instructor giving very good advice both whilst on the island and back at the accommodation, coaching on how to improve the photographs in Lightroom. The accommodation is excellent, Dion's choice to book the house for his clients is very good and comfortable.

I was fortunate enough to get the last spot on a trip with Dion to Horsey Gap, with a small group of people, all with very different levels of photography experience. I myself a complete beginner was excited to finally learn how to use my DSLR camera properly! The trip did not disappoint. Dion was a great guide and coach, managing to help all attendees at their various stages of learning. I found him to be very knowledgeable and patient, and able to offer a variety of scenery and lots of Sea Lions and their pups! Dion also let us use some amazing filters, and gave the opportunity to go out on early morning sunrise and sunset shoots — optional, not mandatory. I chose to do everything and make the most of it. All in all, a wonderful experience with Dion that I would highly recommend. I have so many wonderful pictures from the tour!

Went on my first tour with Dion recently — the Wales Waterfall Tour. Excellent! Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Dion was extremely helpful, gave excellent advice, and I learnt a lot. Booked this tour with the family in tow. We were taken to some amazing castles and shown techniques and camera settings that brought out the best shots. Dion also supplied camera equipment, had charging support and food supplies including snacks for the kids. He catered to all skill levels across my family. I had an amazing experience on my seal photography trip. The tour guide was friendly, and the accommodation was great — clean and spacious with a good kitchen. At locations, the guide was always on hand to provide suggestions and guidance, but also gave us space to experiment. For the seal photography, the guide was very knowledgeable about the best spots. Importantly, he also kept us at a safe distance from the seals and ensured we never disturbed them — all photos were taken from an appropriate distance with a long lens. I'm a big seal lover, and it was fantastic to observe their natural behaviour and take some candid, personal shots from a responsible distance. For astro and landscapes, the guide carefully tracked the weather to give us the best chances of catching stars or a vivid sunrise. All in all, would thoroughly recommend UK Photo Tours and the seal tour specifically, especially to aspiring wildlife photographers.
Had the best day with Dion Hitchcock, visiting Bodiam and Scotney Castles. He is delightful and so helpful with an excellent array of lenses, filters and tripods you can borrow. He caters for everyone from the true beginner to experienced photographers. Could not recommend him more.
I recently joined a Scotland photo tour with Dion Hitchcock and a group of 4 other participants. Dion's photography expertise in the field, his friendly disposition and knowledge of the region were beyond anything I could expect. I truly valued everything I learned from Dion during this tour and believe I have acquired some new photo skills. He even provided a whole set of filters for my use throughout. Dion did a fantastic job modifying the order of our shooting destinations if poor weather intervened. Photography takes much patience — even getting soaked in the rain and sinking in the mud was all worth it for the beautiful sites we had the pleasure of shooting. We had such a great group for this tour and the best guide we could ask for. You won't be disappointed and will leave with lasting memories, new friends and hundreds of beautiful photographs.

He did a superb job of balancing the daily weather conditions with sites that he and the group wanted to photograph, maximizing our time each day to capture as many great photos as possible, whether at sunrise and sunset, or moody scenes unique to the Scottish landscape. He also gave more experienced photographers the freedom and flexibility to do their own thing at each location. So far I have joined 4 tours in 2022 including 2 multiple-day tours to Norfolk for baby seals and Lake District, and 2 day trips for jousting and vintage air show. I truly appreciated all arrangements from Dion. He is very kind and generous in sharing not only his own equipment including cameras, lenses and filters, but also his photography knowledge and experience across different genres. He even taught us to shoot a full moon with his professional long lens when there was spare time — not supposed to be included! I would highly recommend multiple-day tours, as Dion will try his best to arrange more than enough — he even taught us to use Lightroom for post-production after dinner. I feel safe and comfortable joining his tours, with enjoyable memories and great photos to take home.

I've just returned from another fantastic workshop with Dion — the first was Lake District in Feb 2020 and this trip was Astrophotography in Norfolk. Both trips used ND filters, something I hadn't used before, which Dion lent to me. There were also lenses I borrowed and full camera setups I used. Each trip I learned something new. I found it very beneficial in a holiday setting where I could learn and practice in a relaxed environment with Dion at hand to answer any questions. Each accommodation was beautiful — given that you take photos any time, day or night, it was advantageous to have a full kitchen just like home, and a big sofa to relax on. It was also lovely to have a small group together. I hope to book another trip soon!
