Wales is home to some of the UK's most dramatic waterfalls, set within dramatic mountain and valley landscapes. This intensive 2-day photography workshop will take you to multiple spectacular waterfall locations, teaching you composition, exposure control for flowing water, and landscape photography techniques in this dramatic scenery.
Perfect for photographers looking to capture waterfalls and improve their landscape skills. We'll explore Brecon Beacons locations including Sgwd yr Eira, Sgwd Clun-Gwyn, and multiple other dramatic cascades. Daily Itinerary
We'll depart London early morning and travel to the Brecon Beacons. After checking into our accommodation in the late afternoon, we'll head out to a nearby waterfall for our first session, getting comfortable with composition, exposure times for flowing water, and ND filter technique ahead of the main day on the trail.
Our main day of waterfall photography. We'll follow the Elidir Trail, photographing multiple waterfalls in turn: Sgwd Gwladus (Lady Falls), Sgwd-y-Bedol (Horseshoe Falls), Sgwd Ddwli Isaf, and Sgwd Ddwli Uchaf. Dion will work with you at each location on composition, exposure timing, and ND filter technique as light and water flow allow. Evening accommodation gives time to review and process the day's images.
After breakfast and checkout, a final stop at Sychryd Waterfall for one last session before we begin the journey back to London, arriving in the afternoon or early evening.

Frequently Asked Questions
Moderate fitness is required. We'll be walking to various waterfall locations, some involving 20-45 minutes on trails. Proper hiking boots and reasonable fitness are essential. Most locations are accessible by vehicle, but some walking is required.
You'll need a DSLR or mirrorless camera with manual mode, a wide-angle lens (16-35mm) and a standard lens (24-70mm). A tripod is essential for waterfall photography. ND filters are crucial for long exposures, and we have Kase filter kits available if needed.
To capture smooth, silky water effects in waterfall photos, you need slow shutter speeds (often 1-30 seconds). A tripod keeps your camera stable during these long exposures, ensuring sharp images.
Wales weather is unpredictable but often produces dramatic lighting for waterfall photography. Waterfalls actually look better with overcast conditions. Rain gear is essential. We adjust our schedule based on conditions to maximise photography opportunities.
We'll have multiple walks of varying lengths, typically 20-45 minutes to reach optimal waterfall locations. You can pace yourself and rest as needed. The walks are well worth it for the spectacular photo opportunities.
Meals are not included, but the accommodation includes self-catering facilities. The Brecon Beacons area has various restaurants and pubs nearby, and we can recommend local options.
We aim to be back at the London meeting point in the afternoon or early evening on the final day, after a stop at Sychryd Waterfall and the drive back. If you have a flight booked that day, we'd recommend building in several hours of grace period before your check-in time in case of road delays.
